Doggy Days Part - 6

Ages: Leo=20, Raph=19, Don and Mikey=17

Summary: Donatello simply wanted to show an experiment he'd been working
on that involved different animal's D.N.A, but something went wrong and it had
a very strange affect on the hot-headed Raphael. Now Don has to find a cure for
his second oldest as strange things start happening to Raph.

Doggy Days – 6

Once sensei leaved the room Leo sighs to turn to Donnie.

“Say Donnie… any idea why Raph bit me?” asked Leo

“Maybe you took him out of guard and either his wolf or dog’s side acted on him using it as a way to protect himself” explained Donatello gently rubbing a finger in his chin as he was trying to find a proper explanation for what just happened.

“I see… I should talk to him” Leo murmured more to him than anyone else

“If you do” added Don that was able to heard what the leader whispered “go to him slowly, maybe he is our brother but with his DNA all mixed with wild animals can make him more… “delicate” emotionally if you understand me”

“I guess I do, just like a puppy when he knows he did something bad” answered Leo to walk away from the lab. Don by his side started to grab everything; when he was about to grab the bondages his hand and Mikey’s touched slightly making both make back almost at the instant.

“Sorry D” said Mikey putting his hand behind his head “I though you may need some help putting this in order”

“Thanks Mikey” Don smiled and kept grabbing things as Mikey as well who couldn’t help but look at Donnie for some time to then keep grabbing all

Raphael remained on his room but far from his mirror in order to not look into his own reflection. He felt himself deep in the darkness for some reason. It was like he didn’t know his own self anymore… no… that wasn’t right… what he didn’t knew was until where can his new instincts go… he already bite Leo and he still felt bad about that so he couldn’t help but feel awful for it. Without notice his ears went down as part of his dog’s part.

“Raph” he heard, at the moment he was on all four looking at the source of the voice and saw his eldest brother standing on the door “Can I come in?”

Following his instinct Raph made back a bit still with that guilty feeling.

“No, hey don’t worry” added Leo coming finally inside. Even so now that Raph was able to see the patched arm of Leo couldn’t help but flinch slightly “Don’t worry I’m fine… how are you?” the blue banded turtle asked sitting near Raph who sat at the other side of the bed.

“Why are you here?” asked low and refusing to see him to the eye.

“Look if you’re still upset by what happened relax, it was an accident” said Leo. Remembering his chat with the purple banded genius he extends his hand and pets his head gently. Raph feeling comforted by the gentle touch simply forgot for some moment the reason why he was so worried about before. “Is part of your dog behavior go at the offensive if you feel in danger”

“Ok ok I understood fearless no need to explain everything” said Raph trying to sound annoyed but it was difficult since the relaxing caress was still there.

“Look, if we want this to work we need to be more careful and try to at least have an idea of what your instincts can do” added Leo talking more for himself than Raph. The hybrid by his side couldn’t help but sniff his eldest while he was trapped on his trails of thoughts, he remembered vaguely that Donatello sometime told them that turtles has an unique essence and that in some males it can be strong or more effective in occasions. Some seconds later Leo stood still distracted.

“Anyway I think I will just ask Don about this….!!!” Leo felt surprised as Raph stood on 4 as a dog and started sniffing his leg to then launch to it.

“So…” Ask Leo some hours later to Donnie who was tipping on his computer at an amazing speed “that is a normal behavior?”

“Yeah, I think your scent is strong enough for Raph to sniff considering that is almost “that part” of the year for the turtle species” answers the bo wielder.

“Even when he is a dog?” questioned Mikey.

“At the end Raph keeps being also a turtle, and I have the feeling the instincts of each animal takes turns to dominate him according to his situation but that is just a supposition” added Don looking to the screen.

“Then I don’t have to worry when he do… ‘that’?” asked Leo arching an eye brown.

“Yeah don’t worry that much” shrugged the purple banded “Well I think is your time to sleep”

“What do you mean with ‘your’?” It was Mikey’s turn to arch an eye brown.

“Mikey you know  I always stay late doing my experiments and now with all the situation of the ‘hybrid’ I need to work even more” explained Don looking again to the screen.

“Will you be ok D?” Asked the young turtle to his brother who turned to him.

“Yeah, don’t worry about” and to reassure him Donnie smiled. Mikey nodded and he and Leo made his way to the exit. “Oh! Before you go Leo, I will show you something…”

“Something?” repeated the blue banded.

After some time everyone was already asleep. They all agreed to let their door open just in case Raph may need their help with something or if they heard a weird noise to be able to study the situation first. In his room the hybrid was asleep but not pleasantly as he may want to since he dreamed about his state…

“Leo! I’m going to help you!” he exclaimed running in four as fast as he could.

“Raph!! Help me!!” Was able to hear from the katana wielder from some part of the place that he wasn’t able to find and then Raph was able to hear the maniac laugh of Shredder. The darkness was becoming more and more deep as he tried to find his brother… at the end just a metallic sound was heard followed by a loud scream of pain belonging to Leo…

“GAH!!” exclaimed Raph to look around. There was no Shredder. There was darkness of course but not that deep nor scary as he saw in his mind and his eldest… Leo!

He jumped from his bed running to Leonardo’s room to find the turtle peacefully asleep on his bed. The red banded went near seeing his maskless peaceful face to –in a natural instinct of a dog- nuzzle his cheek relieved. The only response he was able to obtain was a comfortable sigh. As if the eldest was aware or had guessed that he would come to his room there was enough space for him on the bed.

He jumped curling on it as a dog would do leaving his face near Leo’s plastron which was covered by the blankets.

By other side Mikey heard the sound of Raph’s screaming which made him stand dizzily and go to check. He was about to go out from his room when he saw Raph running towards Leo’s so he followed to find -to his surprise- how Raph nuzzled his eldest brother’s cheek to then lie on the bed with him. He couldn’t help but smile with tenderness… and take a pic with his T-Phone cause he knew there will not be another chance to have a picture of those two together. Once he made sure they were OK he was about to head to his room but he gave a glance to the lab to then walk through the living until he was in front of the open door from the lab looking inside how Donatello was deeply asleep on the computer’s keyboard snoring some loud.

“Figures” muttered not amused. It wasn’t something of the other world see Donatello sleeping inside his lab, indeed this happened most of the time since he always planned to stay awake finishing x or y experiment to always end there at 2 or 3 AM. Michelangelo denied rolling his eyes and went to grab a blanket to cover him with it.

“You’re such a kid” murmured smiling to go away. In his sleep Don smiled.

At the next morning when Leo awaked he yawned but during the process he almost ate a big fur ball… a fur ball? By the sudden feel he awoke abruptly to notice a furry red tail near his mouth, as he sat on his bed he noticed Raph was there curling on his bed –and part of his plastron- sleeping soundly.

“Raph?” asked Leo quietly but then he could notice the calm expression his brother had he just wasn’t able to wake him. He couldn’t help but smile and pet gently his head. He never imagined see Raphael that peaceful since all the time they were arguing or something , but now he was able to see another side of his brother. His brother then started to wake and looked around.

“Uhm… Good morning?” said Leo with a sweat drop.

“What am I doing here?” asked Raph then remembered his nightmare and had to make sure Leo was ok so he started to check him.

“What?” questioned Leo looking at him while the other keeps checking him until he suddenly stopped looking at him. “What?” asked again seeing Raph who just keeps staring at him until he leaned close to him making their snouts touch gently “Raph?” and without a warning Raph licked gently his lips what let Leo stunned as he kept looking to his brother who just waved his tail… maybe this was part of a dog’s behavior as Donnie has told him… even so he couldn’t help but blush furiously by the unexpected lick.

“Guys! Breakfast!” Exclaimed Mikey from the kitchen, Raph perked his ears to jump off of the bed and calmly leave to go to the kitchen leaving Leo still confused.

Leo kept speechless and took the decision to investigate a bit more to be prepared for all…
